Another state legislator tries out a do-not-mail law

April 5, 2007

A short while ago, I mentioned here that a Montana state representative from Bozeman had introduced a do-not-mail bill here in the state.
Thankfully, due to feedback from myself and others, she decided this bill was a mistake and asked her committee to table it.

Now its Rhode Island’s turn.

Ok folks, warm up the emails, faxes and phones and wake this guy up.

I dont have a problem with the under-21 credit card thing, nor the protection for seniors who want it – but making this a global law covering all direct mail is completely anti-competitive and a giant boot in the shorts to new/small businesses trying to scratch out a foothold in a niche.

Not that I expect all legislators to care about that, but if you don’t tell them, you get the government you deserve.
