Business is Personal’s Friday Private Post begins this week…

by Mark on March 26, 2008

After 500 posts, it’s time to stir the pot a bit. OK, maybe stir it a bit *more*.

This week, I begin a new feature, the Business is Personal Friday Private Post.

But there is a catch. The private posts will require a password in order to read them.

To get the password, you must be on the blog post announcement list (you may already be there).

Really not much of a catch, is it?

In the future, when I post a password protected blog entry (and those will always the best blog entries with the most valuable information), you will get the password in your email box. That’s about as easy as pressing the Easy button at Staples.

Every single blog announcement email I send you will have an unsubscribe link at the bottom. 1 click and you’re off the list, so you can change your mind at any time. If you want to stop getting blog announcements, just click the link provided in any blog announcement email I send you.

It’s that easy and the list will not be used for anything else. No ads, no junk, no nothing. After all, if I wanted to do that, I’d do it here:)

Don’t wait till next Friday to get the first one, it’ll be too late for that Friday’s Private Post.

Here’s how to get access to the Friday’s Private Posts:

1. Find my picture up there in the upper-right corner.

2. If you can’t find it, go to my blog by clicking this link:

http://www.rescuemarketing.com/blog/

3. Found my photo? Right below my picture is a form. It only asks for two items of information about you.

4. Enter your name in the first blank. You can enter a fake name. That’s fine. You can enter just your first name. That’s fine too.

5. Enter your email address in the 2nd blank. You must enter your real email address. I’ll be sending you future passwords by email, so if you don’t enter a real email address, you won’t get them.

6. Click the button to submit your information. It’s safe with me. I won’t share it with anyone. I will only use it to send a short email telling you each time I post a new blog entry. The password will be included with any password protected blog entry. It’s free. It’s easy. It’s safe.

7. Go to your email box. Find the confirmation email I sent you. Follow the directions and click on the link in the email to confirm your email address.

That’s it. In the future, when I post a password protected blog entry (and those are always the best blog entries with the most valuable information), you will get the password in your email box. Easy as that Staples Easy button, don’t you think?

Every single email I send you will have an unsubscribe link. So you can change your mind at any time. If you want to stop getting blog announcements, just click the link provided in any email I send you. It’s that easy.

What are you waiting for?

Mark - I love your blog & read it via google reader. I WANT to receive & be able to read all of your wonderful words of wisdom HOWEVER I do not want any more emails that I do not need to be receiving. To get your content I now have to get a bunch of emails that I do not want?
What good does this process do for you & for your readers?

ReAnn,

Actually, I’m looking into a way to get the blog announcement info to RSS subscribers.

My reasons for doing this are research-oriented, and the research results will be reported here in the blog, thus the readers benefit from that:)

I too really enjoy your blog, and read it via google reader. As insightful and valuable as it is though, I am not interested in email based subscription.

You mention research purposes, have you sent the guys at feedburner an email explainin what you are trying to do, and seeing if they have any thoughts on it? They may have a more elegant solution.

I’m not in a position to complain about the wonderful free content you are providing, but you write a fantastic blog and I hope that you continue to provide quality content via RSS.
