Several local people mentioned the real estate post from yesterday at last night’s CFHS Speech and Debate State Championship celebration.
People who had never said a word about the blog before. Surprised me a little. Avast mayteys, we’ve got lurkers!! :)
Anyhow, I got a lot of “No kidding” and “Why don’t they do this?” sort of comments out of it. I think I hit a nerve with a couple of em. They were downright grumpy about it.

The “Why don’t they” comments were common-sense stuff.
Things like this:
- Why can’t I search the available listings by school district?
- Why can’t I search the available listings by subdivision?
- Why can’t I get new business listings sent by text message to my phone?
I could go on, but you get the idea.
So…what about your web site?

Apart from the things you mention, I would like to know what amenities are nearby. How close is a grocery store? What churches are in the area? What about a library? A park?
This could be a difficult endeavor but things like this can be found in the house folder that realtors put in the houses so why can’t they put all that information online as well?

Exactly, Ian.
All the questions that come to mind when you think… “Would I want to LIVE there?”
Not just “Do I like the house?”

Heck… just look at most realtor websites…. There are so darn many links it is overwhelming. People go to your site to find homes. If they can’t figure out how to do that in less than a second, they will probably just hit the “back” button.
