		<description>Great post.  Scarcity is a powerful concept, but what&#039;s the point when you&#039;re sacrificing your profits for it (not to mention your basic human dignity, as what happened this weekend)?   Besides, as you said so aptly, Mark, when your primary competitive advantage is PRICE, your clients will stampede to the next guy just as quickly as they came to you as soon as someone else goes even lower.

It&#039;s too bad the &quot;big guys&quot; are holding these kinds of practices out as examples, because most of us small businesses don&#039;t have the resources to compete on price alone.  But if we understand marketing correctly, hopefully we can create a strong demand for our products and services based on VALUE, not hype.
